Hyperkinetic Modeselektor

Two of the freshest and most talked about 'bots on the scene today are none other than Modeselektor. Berlin's Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary aka Modeselektor first teamed up in 1996 and have been putting out their own brand of glitched-up "dreck" electro since 2001 on Ellen Allien's Bpitch Control label. The duo just dropped their first LP, Hello Mom!, in September, 2005 and to date, have released 5 EPs, including a co-production with Apparat under the name Moderat, and have remixed Miss Kittin, fellow Bpitch Control artists Smash TV and Tigerbeat6's Knifehandchop among others.

The widely acclaimed Hello Mom! is Modeselektor’s take on contemporary techno-buzzword genres like electro-idm, booty house, euro-crunk, urban grime, ghettobass and dubstep. Starting off with a scorching collaboration with French bad-boy-hip hop collective TTC, the record moves from one micro-genre to the next with the dexterity, sexiness and momentum of a flashdancer on acid. Other standouts on the album include my personal favorite, the electrolicious Kill Bill Vol. 4, and the funkin' grime-y Silikon featuring Sasha Perera of Jahcoozi. They've also just released a DVD with famed German designbots Pfadfinderei entitled Labland, in case anyone needs a Chanukkah gift idea for this particular robot. >;]

Click here to get Hello Mom! on cd, or here on mp3 from iTunes. it's one of the best albums of 2005 which easily earns two cybernetic appendages up. Also recommended is Batards Sensibles, TTC's recent [2004] album of nasty euro-crunk madness. Click here for the regular mp3 version, and here for the instrumental version.

freakin awesome

We launch new blogs the same week, and on the same day you're posting about Jahcoozi and I post a track by Jahcoozi. See, that's why we're good tennis partners. I like "euro-crunk", did you come up with that??

I can just picture Lil Jon saying, "Oui!! Oui!!! Qua?? Qua??"
